Epidemiological Studies Regarding Kidney Disease
In 2011, the Chinese Cohort Study of Chronic Kidney Disease (C-STRIDE) was established by Peking University First Hospital and Peking University Institute of Nephrology, supported by grants from the Research Special Fund for Public Welfare Industry of Health from the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China and the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The C-STRIDE has included more than 30 large renal centers in China, aiming to explore the progression, complications and prognosis of patients with CKD in China. At present, more than 3,000 patients with CKD have been included in the C-STRIDE study, and these patients are being followed up.
The preliminary results of the C-STRIDE study have provided high-quality information for understanding the characteristics of patients with CKD in China, and also the status of clinical intervention and possible intervention targets, which will provide a large amount of data for secondary and tertiary prevention for CKD in the future. More importantly, the CK-NET has established a collaboration network involving more than 60 hospitals in China, and built a mutually beneficial and win-win data sharing mechanism, which greatly promotes data-based research in the field of nephrology.
